Michael Harvey's Earth4Energy ebook is the original guide that shows people how to make solar panels and wind turbines. To this extent many of the other guides seem to have taken their lead from this book.

The ebook can be downloaded from the Internet, meaning you can be reading it a few minutes after making the purchase.

The guide is well written in a simple style that does not include much jargon or terminology. Anything that  might be viewed as jargon is generally explained beforehand. The book is around 85 pages at the time of writing but is updated quite often so this will probably change over time.

The graphics and photographs that accompany the step by step guide are clear and of a good quality.

The guide gives you step by step instructions to create a 100 watt solar panel and a 500 watt wind turbine. The instructions have plenty of diagrams and photos to help understand the instructions.

There are also 3 videos. The first two videos deal with making the solar cells and putting them together to make a panel. The third video shows you how to make windmill blades.  

Armed with the information and instruction in the guide/videos most people with basic DIY skills would have no problem putting the systems together.

The guide does not go into hooking up the systems to your home electrical supply. This is fair enough as there are different electrical conventions throughout the world so it couldn't give accurate instructions for every country.

There is a bonus ebook about biodiesel or making your own fuel. This was pretty much an informational book and not really that relevant to making solar panels and wind turbines. On the download page there is also a link to places where you can get all the parts that you need to make the systems described in the guide.
